An Enjoyable Place to Sit

Bold shapes and patterns in this living room create an enjoyable space to sit. From animal prints on the chair and accessories, to the geometric patterns on the bookshelf and accent table, this space invokes a sense of excitement with pops of rich golds and purple.

Project Overview:

The challenge when decorating this living room was its situation between the entry hallway and the home office. We had to figure out how to fit all of the furniture in the room, while allowing an easy walk-through. Our homeowner works from his home office and has clients come to the house, so the importance of allowing flow-through between the front door and the office was key.

In order to resolve this challenge, we decided to use contemporary, slim furniture to make the styles between the two rooms flow. Since the colors used in the home office are cool and bold, we used warm and light colors in the living room. To make sure there was enough space to easily walk through to the office. We limited the amount of furniture we used in the design. We used swivel ottomans that function as both a cocktail table and a foot rest. We also used a floor lamp next to the armless sofa to fill in the space without using a bulky end table.
