Jungle Children’s Room

We needed to create a space for a ten-year-old boy that we had never met before so we designed a room with influences from his country of origin in Africa, and for his love of wild animals.

Location: Lake Nona, Orlando

Designer Credits: Tony Brown, C.I.D.

Project Overview:

This children’s room was created to be enjoyed by a child at any age. The theme of wild animals and the African influence in neutrals and brown, combined with a pop of orange, creates a space that is youthful, vibrant and appropriate for kids of all ages.

Jungle Children’s Room

The challenge being that we did not want it to be too young of a room or too grown. It needed to be age appropriate now but also something he will like for years to come.

Influences of Africa

We designed a room with influences from his country of origin in Africa and for his love of wild animals. This was introduced with the giraffe print jersey sheets and the African map inspired comforter in neutrals and browns. We wanted to add a pop of color to keep it young and vibrant so we painted the accent wall behind the bed a rich yam colored orange and added contemporary and fun animal wall art to add décor on the walls along with a wooden carved animal mask wall plaque.

The shaped cornice with the tribal print in orange and the faux leather fabric in a saddle brown adds both texture and pattern to the window. We provided him with a wooden textured desk that is both durable and minimalistic in style and size and the acrylic desk chair and the floor pouf adds seating and color to the space as well. Finally, the wooden bedroom furniture adds the right amount of space, color and durability needed for a growing boy.
