Coordinating Window Treatments

Issues Addressed
This kitchen dining area was dark and looked more like a living room with the formal wallpaper and draperies. The floor was in good shape, but the client didn’t like the color. However, we did not have budget to replace the floor so we needed to choose colors that would bring out the warm accents in the tile. The space is odd in shape with one side angled making furniture and rug placement difficult.

Our Solutions
Kathie chose to center the chandelier and table with the large window, leaving plenty of space to get around the table to be seated. In order to have a rug large enough for the table, the new area rug was custom cut on the back corner in the same angle as the wall and then bound. Light yellow paint lightens up the space and brightens the tile floor. Roller shades in a natural grass pattern provide function to the decorative draperies.
